With a unique perspective gained from working in both corporate giants like Idea Cellular and Reliance Jio and being part of three startups, including my own venture, Talkingtown, I've had the opportunity to live and work in Chandigarh, Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore, and now Hyderabad. Throughout my career, I realized that the success of any initiative, project, or company depends on the team. The team can make or break any initiative.
To find the perfect team, we look for past accomplishments and experience; however, the painful fact is that past laurels don't guarantee future performance.
In my firsthand experience, we saw a senior corporate leader who was highly successful and inspiring in a structured enterprise culture. But he couldn't find his footing in a fast-paced, messy startup and ultimately gave up. It wasn't a lack of skill or intent. It was a context mismatch, and the hiring process could not catch that.
